This week I have been looking into the licensing for the covers that we will need to purchase to ensure that we do not get any fines or get in any trouble for realising and deistrubiting this. We are technically planning to make money of the vinyl sales as we will be getting the money from the sales so this means that the license we need is a little more specific.

I had a look through a few different websites that offerer licensing. I know that Harry Fox Agancy is one of the biggest in the world however, I didn't find their website easy to use at all. They have a lot of options and different licenses and you kind of have to fork out money right away to become a member. I found this website called Tune Licensing which straight away looked a lot easier to use!

It was free to register so I did that right away. As soon as I got my conflation email and logged in some instructions came up (hell yeah).

After I was logged in there was a few options of what I could find more information about. I went into the "request a license" tab to see how long this process would take. To my present surprise you can apply for a licence and pay for it all by using one form!

Something else that I liked about this website is it allowed my straight away to put Local Animality as the record label. It also doesn't let you leave this black and says you can put a name for a single release and it doesn't have to be registered.

Each song with the licenses works out the be around $25 per song through this website. I think may end up being a tiny bit more expensive than some other ones but it is very easy to use and I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to this.

We have also been discussing weather or not we need to do this process. It looks as though if we weren't going to print this on vinyl then we wouldn't have to. However we really are determined to have this pressed at some point so we think it's worth cover our asses now inserted of running into issues in the future!

More over this week we have also decided that we want simple contact rather than the hectic one that we purchased from Arts Law. personally I didn't understand a lot of what was going on in that construct and after some professional advice we have decided to only include the parts that we think are necessary. I am hoping to get some last advice on this before sending it to the bands to sign.

Once we have all the contracts signed we will purchase the license just in case there is any issues and some bands don't want to sign. Then we haven't wasted $25 on a licence for a song we don't have permission to release.
